folga doesn't know
who you are
No name, email, account or ads. The little that reaches folga.dev is all listed here, along with how to turn it off.
What the app sends
Only when you click to send something:
- SuggestionsThe text you wrote in Send a suggestion.
- Answers and votesThe option you picked in an Overview question and your votes in Ideas.
- folga versionSo we know whether a problem was already fixed in a newer version.
- A random code for this PC16 letters and numbers picked at random the first time folga opens. It doesn't come from your name, your hardware or Windows; it's only there so a vote isn't counted twice.
The app never sends files, folder names, your list of programs, hardware details or what the cleanup found. All of that stays on your PC, in folga's data folder.
What the app downloads on its own
When it opens, folga fetches notices and news from folga.dev and, if you let it, checks for a new version. These requests only carry the folga version, with no code or any data from your PC. To stop checking for new versions, turn off Check for updates on launch in Settings.
Connection test
Only when you click Test in the Games tab, folga sends pings (with no data in them) to your router, to Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 and to Google's 8.8.8.8. They see your IP, like with any internet connection. The result stays on your PC.
Where it's kept and for how long
Suggestions, answers and votes are kept on folga's own server, outside the public part of the site. They stay there until you ask for them to be deleted, as explained below.
When someone downloads the installer from this site, the server counts the download: it only records the file name, the browser language (Portuguese, English, Spanish or other) and the time. No IP, browser or PC code.
The site goes through Cloudflare, which protects it against attacks and so sees the IP of every visitor, like on any site that uses it. folga's server doesn't store IPs: it only keeps them in memory, for up to an hour, to block anyone sending too much.
The site doesn't use cookies, analytics or ads.
How to turn it off
In Settings, turn off Send anonymous answers. The random code stops being sent and the Overview stops asking questions. Suggestions are still only sent when you write one and click Send.
To delete what was already sent
Write to [email protected] with your random code. It's in the state.json file, in folga's data folder (%LOCALAPPDATA%\folga), in the installId field. We delete everything tied to it within 30 days and reply when it's done.
Sent a suggestion without the code? Tell us roughly what it said and the day, and we'll find it.
